My scanner kinda chopped the very top of this drawing off, but I didn't feel like scanning it in two pieces and hatching them together, so just imagine that those little heart valves aren't missing their tops, k?
ANYWAY, so, this was an assignment for art class, the theme being "cold." I wanted to take the assignment more figuratively as opposed to literally and opted to explore the old metaphor of a cold heart instead of drawing some ice cubes or a snowman. In contemplating exactly how to portray this idea, I thought of several ideas, but then finally decided on what you see here. Why ice cream? Well, because it's frozen, obviously, and because it almost creates a sort of visual contradiction. A cold heart and ice cream are both cold things, yet carry completely different connotations. Ice cream drizzled in chocolate syrup and topped with a shiny cherry is recognized as something good and special - a treat, where as a cold heart is the exact opposite and to be avoided. I thought bringing the two opposing items together would be a bit more interesting and would hopefully leave any viewer intrigued and maybe make them think a bit. Hopefully, I achieved that. But I probably just put too much thought into these things.
Anyway, there it is. A cold heart in an even colder banana split.
Speaking of bananas, I recently discovered that I'm allergic to them. That's dumb, isn't it? Yeah, pretty dumb indeed.
This is the second time I've placed an anatomical heart in the ol' dA gallery, so hopefully this doesn't seem too repetitious. Also, I didn't use any reference photos, so that's probably why everything might look a little weird. My mom thinks the ice cream looks like brains. She can suck it.
I love your awesome ideas for your art class.
And for someone who didn't use any reference photos this looks amazingly accurate. If it were me, I would have had to use a reference photo for EVERYTHING.
I love the way the ice cream is drawn.
And even if it did look like brains that'd be pretty awesome as well.
Gosh! you really don't upload enough.
And it's ridiculous how happy it makes me when you do.
I you!
haha, I love you. You're so sweet! You make me blush.
It takes a while for me to come up with those awesome ideas, so my assignments are always late, haha.
I wish I had taken more time with this, though. Especially on the glass. It could have been better, but I got lazy. Bah.
And thanks for liking the ice cream. Personanlly, I liked the way I drew it quite a bit until mom said it looked like brains. Shew, I'd like to see her draw some ice cream, hahaha.
I might upload some more things tonight. They're not as awesome as this, but they're still drawings.

I think the glass looks simply amazing!
I'm kinda pissed that you didn't reference any of that. You're just so talented. I love seeing your stuff but it fills me with violent, jealous rage at the same time. LOL.
I know I sure couldn't draw ice cream, and if I tried, it'd probably look like that.
I dunno. I've kinda decided the other drawings are too crappy to upload. I'll probably upload them anyway sometime over the weekend. But they do suck, and I promise they won't fill you with violent, jealous rage. haha.
